Peaky Blinders<\/span><\/span><\/a> fans finally got their long-awaited return to Tommy Shelby\u2019s world with The Immortal Man<\/a>, the follow-up film to the show\u2019s 2022 finale. The movie brings back a mix of familiar faces while adding newcomers like Barry Keoghan<\/span><\/span> and Tim Roth<\/span><\/span>. But one major character is noticeably missing: Tom Hardy<\/span><\/span>\u2019s Alfie Solomons.<\/p>\n

Alfie\u2019s absence raised eyebrows, especially after the character\u2019s surprise survival arc. Initially believed to have died in season four, he later reappeared and remained part of the story through the final season.<\/p>\n

Now, creator Steven Knight<\/span><\/span> has revealed he seriously considered bringing Alfie back in a very different way, one that would\u2019ve completely reframed his storyline.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter,<\/a> Knight explained he toyed with a dark twist: \u201cI didn\u2019t do it in the end, but I had an idea, which I haven\u2019t really spoken about.<\/p>\n

\u201cEver since he was shot on the beach at Margate [in season four], you\u2019ve only ever seen Tommy and Alfie together alone. There\u2019s never been anyone else.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, \u2018Maybe he appears, and we realise he\u2019s been dead all that time\u2019. Now, I nearly did that, and I didn\u2019t do it, but that was a thought.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other words, Alfie could have been revealed as a ghost, with Tommy unknowingly talking to him for years.<\/p>\n

The film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man also delivers a major shock involving Arthur Shelby: Spoilers ahead.<\/p>\n

Arthur is revealed to have been killed off-screen by his own brother, a decision that has divided fans. Knight has previously defended the twist, arguing it was key to understanding Tommy\u2019s mindset.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was writing this intense guilt. And then you think, \u2018Well, that\u2019s why he\u2019s so guilty. Because it was him\u2019,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that the move ties directly into Tommy\u2019s core values:
\u201cEverything that Tommy has ever stood for is family. And here he is, he shot his own brother.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything falls apart after that. There is nothing left because everything you\u2019ve ever stood for, everything you\u2019ve represented, has gone. Tommy Shelby killed his everything all at once.\u201d<\/p>\n
