In the film, he invites a young woman to his private island for what seems like a luxury escape. But as the story unfolds, things take a darker turn.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever a film focuses on extreme wealth, isolation and hidden misconduct, people tend to look for real-life parallels. A billionaire with serious influence, a private island, and young women being flown out and kept in an isolated setting. Naturally, that makes people think of <a href=\"http:\/\/thetab.com\/tag\/Jeffrey-Epstein\">Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But recently, newly surfaced emails sent to Epstein\u2019s so-called \u201cvacation\u201d Gmail account referenced scopolamine, sometimes called \u201cDevil\u2019s Breath\u201d. One message reportedly claimed it could \u201celiminate free will\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no public evidence that Epstein used this drug on victims. Still, some people have drawn comparisons to Blink Twice, where a substance derived from flowers on the island is used to erase memory. So basically, when those emails started circulating, viewers felt the overlap was hard to ignore.<\/p>\n<h2>So, is Slater King based on Epstein?<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_583796\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-583796\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2092 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.filmshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/02\/blink-twice-BT_01059_R_rgb-1200x800-1.jpg\" alt=\"Channing Tatum Blink Twice character Jeffrey Epstein\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-583796\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">via Amazon MGM Studios<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/2026\/02\/18\/zoe-kravitz-responds-to-those-jeffrey-epstein-and-blink-twice-comparisons-as-old-emails-resurface\">Zo\u00eb Kravitz has said clearly that the film was not made around Epstein<\/a>. She described it as \u201call a metaphor\u201d and \u201cnot so literal\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She actually spoke about how abuse of power isn\u2019t limited to billionaires and told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/zoe-kravitz-epstein-comparisons-channing-tatum-blink-twice-1235981760\/\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, \u201cIt could be your husband. It could be the man down the street that\u2019s following you home. It could be your boss, it could be a family member. There\u2019s power on different levels and abuse of power on different levels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zo\u00eb also questioned why people act surprised when stories about powerful men surface. \u201cThese stories would break about these people, and everyone wants to act all shocked. And my whole thing was, \u2018You\u2019re shocked that powerful men are abusing their power? This is a shock to you?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And she made her position very clear, \u201cIt\u2019s been so important to make it clear that this is not about anyone in particular. And boiling down what we\u2019re really talking about in this film to two people is problematic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So yes, some viewers may notice similarities. But according to Zo\u00eb, Blink Twice is exploring power and control in a wider sense.
