When Euphoria first landed, it felt like most of the cast instantly became everyone\u2019s new obsession. While everyone got a glow-up as the years have gone on, the gap between Sydney Sweeney and Alexa Demie has only widened, and people are starting to question why.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you were online in 2019, you\u2019ll remember this very clearly: Maddy Perez was that<\/em> girl. So how did we get from that to Sydney being booked, busy, and borderline unavoidable, while Alexa\u2019s been left with far fewer mainstream opportunities?<\/span><\/p>\n

Alexa Demie had the moment, Sydney Sweeney had the machine<\/h3>\n

Alexa Demie was arguably the breakout of early Euphoria. Meanwhile, Sydney Sweeney\u2019s Cassie was\u2026 well, a crying, chaotic mess for most of it. And yet, somehow, it\u2019s Sydney who came out of it as Hollywood\u2019s go-to girl. That\u2019s where things start to feel a bit off.<\/span><\/p>\n

The industry loves a certain kind of woman<\/h3>\n

There\u2019s a reason people keep bringing this up: The types of roles they play matter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cassie fits a very familiar mould: Emotional, vulnerable, hyper-feminine, often framed through a lens that\u2019s, let\u2019s be honest, very palatable to male audiences. Maddy, on the other hand, is controlled, intimidating, and doesn\u2019t really exist to be \u201cliked\u201d in the same way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Historically, Hollywood rewards one of those far more than the other.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sydney leaned all the way in<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s also worth saying that Sydney Sweeney hasn\u2019t exactly resisted the typecasting.<\/span><\/p>\n

If anything, she\u2019s leaned into it. From the roles she picks to the way she brands herself publicly, it all feeds into the same very specific image. And yes, it works. But it\u2019s also why some people side-eye just how much opportunity has come her way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because it raises the question: Is she getting these roles because she\u2019s the most interesting choice, or because she\u2019s the easiest one to sell?<\/span><\/p>\n

On the flip side, Alexa Demie has done the exact opposite. <\/span>She\u2019s private, selective, and not constantly trying to stay in the headlines.\u00a0<\/span>Which, in theory, should make her more intriguing. But in reality, it means she\u2019s not feeding the machine in the same way, and the machine tends to reward people who do.<\/span><\/p>\n

While Sydney Sweeney has undeniably worked hard, there\u2019s a growing feeling online that her level of success doesn\u2019t fully line up with the impact she’s had on Euphoria, especially compared to Alexa Demie.<\/span><\/p>\n

Add in the constant headlines, the questionable PR moments, and the fact she\u2019s basically become inescapable, and it\u2019s no surprise people are starting to push back a bit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sydney Sweeney fits an industry-friendly mould, plays the publicity game, and stays visible at all costs. Alexa Demie is more selective, more guarded, and arguably more unconventional. <\/span>Whether that says more about them or about Hollywood, is kind of the whole point.<\/span><\/p>\n
