Jason Isaacs has backtracked comments he made about nudity in film and TV after he spoke out regarding conversation on his naked full frontal moment in The White Lotus<\/a>. Since Jason Isaacs had done the scene, there was a lot of speculation regarding whether or not he was wearing a prosthetic for it – which prompted him to then say there were double standards<\/a> and that no one would discuss it if he was female. When doing this, he’d named Mikey Madison and Margaret Qualley which caused backlash online – and now Jason Isaacs has taken the comments back and says he regrets how the whole The White Lotus nudity discourse has gone down.<\/p>\n

The original comment<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In an interview with Variety<\/a>, Jason Isaacs shut down any debate about whether he did or didn\u2019t use a prosthetic in The White Lotus full frontal moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people are debating it. It\u2019s all over the internet. And it\u2019s interesting because the best actress this year is\u00a0Mikey Madison at the Oscars. And I don\u2019t see anybody discussing her vulva, which was on [the screen] all the time\u2026It\u2019s interesting that there\u2019s a double standard for men. But when women are naked, Margaret Qualley as well, in\u00a0\u2018The Substance,\u2019\u00a0nobody would dream of talking to her about her genitalia or her nipples or any of those things. So, it\u2019s odd that there\u2019s a double standard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whilst Jason Isaacs had every right to call out speculation about his manhood in the scene, it was bizarre that he decided to discuss it with Mikey Madison and Margaret Qualley. Qualley has been open about using prosthetic boobs for scenes naked as Sue in The Substance \u2013 and the comment about Mikey Madison\u2019s \u201cvulva\u201d are particularly jarring since she didn\u2019t go full frontal in Anora.<\/p>\n

Jason Isaacs responded to the criticism towards his comments<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In a new interview with Variety, Jason Isaacs backtracks his criticised comments on male VS female nudity discourse. \u201cIt came out wrong, and I was tired. I\u2019d done so many interviews. I absolutely should not have mentioned those two actresses, whom I respect enormously. Mikey Madison I\u2019m a massive fan of. My point wasn\u2019t that men have had a harder time than women \u2014 that would be absurd. Women have had a monstrous time on camera forever, and I hope to God that is changing.\u201d<\/p>\n
