Think again, as a whole host of new clues suggest <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/stranger-things\/\">Stranger Things<\/a> has\u2026 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">something<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> planned. But does that mean a new episode or something else entirely?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may have blocked it out of your mind, so here\u2019s a refresher: the last ever episode of Stranger Things, \u2018Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up\u2019, aired on New Year\u2019s Eve 2025. And a lot of fans had a lot of problems with how the long-running <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/netflix\/\">Netflix<\/a> series wrapped up.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There were complaints about the final battle with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) feeling anti-climatic, unresolved plot points and a lack of character deaths (depending on what you believe happened to <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2026\/06\/25\/millie-bobby-brown-admits-to-depression-as-she-addresses-stranger-things-cast-feud\/\">Millie Bobby Brown\u2019s Eleven<\/a>).&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This led to theories that the whole season 5 finale was simply an illusion &#8211; and that a secret episode with the \u201creal\u201d ending was set to drop on January 7, 2026. The theory was called Conformity Gate, due to the belief that the <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2026\/05\/21\/nine-abysmal-final-seasons-of-shows-as-the-boys-dies-harder-than-a-supe-at-herogasm\/\">characters\u2019 endings felt too conventional<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the date came and went, the theory more or less dissipated. But in the weeks running up to this year\u2019s Stranger Things Day &#8211; November 6 &#8211; the speculation started up again.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Jamiebower?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Jamiebower<\/a> addresses Conformity Gate \ud83d\ude2d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Stranger_Things?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Stranger_Things<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/FallonTonight?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#FallonTonight<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pZ5CMOfJmq\">pic.twitter.com\/pZ5CMOfJmq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; The Tonight Show (@FallonTonight) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FallonTonight\/status\/2116636075389067615?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 31, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier this week, one person <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Stranger_Things\/comments\/1xmwyb4\/the_conf0rmity_gate_is_coming_back_and_there_are\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fans rewatching the show might uncover more clues that Vecna had trapped the characters in an illusion, pointing to apparent inconsistencies such as Steve becoming a baseball coach despite never showing an interest in the sport.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A couple of weeks ago, the Instagram account Stranger Things Things shared a story that said \u201cFlip the tape\u201d. The speculation was that side A was season 5, and side B would be a secret season 6.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was no official word from Netflix or the show\u2019s cast and crew. Earlier this week, TikToker Amanda B shared footage after spotting Mike and Lucas stars Finn Wolfhard and Caleb McLaughlin filming something together in Chicago.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In one clip, we see Finn having his hair and wardrobe touched up, while another shows him again as the security guard signals to the filmer to cut. In a separate video, both Finn and Caleb can be seen together.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The shoot appears to have taken place on November 2. Naturally, fans have been left wondering whether they were shooting a secret Stranger Things episode. But if that were the case, wouldn\u2019t that be a bit too late? It&#8217;s arguably something even bigger. On November 6, 2026, the first teaser for the upcoming Stranger Things live-action spinoff series arrived. All we know for now is it&#8217;s a prequel set in the 1950s &#8211; decades before the flagship show and years before the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow.<\/p>\n<p>The teaser takes us back to April 19, 1955, in Marion, Nevada, where an abandoned bicycle sits near a restricted area in the dead of night.
