Who is Tommy Corbyn? Jeremy Corbyn’s York son who dabbles in promo and computer repairs

You might have heard of Jeremy Corbyn. Well he has a son and his name is Tommy. Tommy went to York University and graduated last year with an Electrical Engineering and Nanotechnology degree. Tommy was allegedly head butted outside of a nightclub in March last year. He had been out celebrating the successful organisation of a Party for Palestine hip hop event. That’s about as invigorating as it’s going to get.

ICT (double award)

The youngest of three brothers, Tommy went to Acland Burghley School. A mixed comprehensive in Tufnell Park, its most recent Ofsted report rating is “requiring improvement” and emphasised poor pupil behaviour and scruffy teachers. Regardless, in an online questionnaire all parents at the school agree they would recommend it to others. A progressive syllabus focuses on the arts and pupils do not wear uniform. It is in this cauldron of mediocrity that Corbyn’s nine A*- C GCSEs were forged, including an ICT double award.

Told you it wasn’t very exciting.

The Doldrums 2009-13

Tommy put that double award to good use. He founded a tech repair company and started building bespoke computers. He worked at CEX in a similar capacity. He wrote for Custom PC Review. He worked as a sales rep for Epsilon Computers. Are you getting it?

The next natural step was, of course, a foundation degree in Electrical and Nanotronic Engineering from the University of York which, well, laid the foundations for future academic development.

UB-TOMMY

It’s in York that things start to get a little sexy. A successful foundation degree blossomed into a full blown BEng in Electronic Engineering with Nanotechnology. Yeah, sexy. He lived in J Block of James College and joined the Palestinian Solidarity Society, eventually becoming its Events Manager.

But Tommy’s promo wasn’t exclusively limited to the plight of the Palestinian people. He organised charity gigs and larger events for The World Transformed (a grassroots group powered by Momentum, the political organisation supporting Tommy’s dad).

Then there’s this picture.

In this picture Tommy poses with what looks like the entirety of UB40 in Amsterdam. The picture is taken on the edge of the De Wallen red light district, close to coffeeshop Reefer. On Jodenbreestraat near the Oudeschans canal, you can see the spire of the Montelbaanstoren in the background.

But if you look in detail on Facebook, you’ll quickly realise that Tommy hasn’t snagged the band on the Dutch leg of their roll around the world. They’re tagged and liking his cover photo, saying what a great time they had. Tommy wraps his arms around Earl Falconer and Martin Meredith, the band’s bassist and saxophonist. Claudia Bracchitta, Tommy’s mum and Jeremy’s ex-wife comments “next time I’m coming!!”
