Boys think girls with sexy profile pictures are the least trustworthy, according to top professors.

Researchers claimed heterosexual boys smelled a rat when spotting a “beautified” dating profile picture of a girl, and thought they were being deceptive.

For boys, there is the constant risk of being cat-fished as researchers say “it has become normal and acceptable for individuals’ to mislead or deceive”.

With dating apps like Grindr or Tinder, first impressions are made in the time it takes to swipe right and profile pictures have a lot to answer for.

The chances are you enhance your photos using filters, bright lighting and editing apps. Wearing heavy makeup is also said to enhance the quality of a girl’s profile pic.

Communications researcher and Professor Rory McGloin at the University of Connecticut described a “non-beautified” profile picture to have “satisfactory lighting, no makeup and no hair treatment”.

But when men viewed an enhanced image of a girl, she oozed attractiveness yet lowered trustworthiness.

Rory said: “Trust is an important point of any relationship and it certainly plays an important role in the forging of new social bonds in the dating context.

“In our sample, attraction seems to be more important that trust.

“Men typically found the more beautified and therefore more attractive profile to be less trustworthy.

“Males still had a higher desire to date the person in the picture despite the lower degree of trustworthiness they reported.”

So fear not, your face caked in makeup and over exposed lighting might make you look like a liar but he’ll probably still swipe right anyway.
