Essex and Leeds students found dead on Thai beach

The bodies of Hannah Witheridge and David Miller were found on Koh Tao

A British backpacker and three Myanmar men have been questioned by Thai police over the murder of two British tourists on the southern resort island of Koh Tao.

The semi-naked bodies of Hannah Witheridge, 23, and David Miller, 24, were discovered on a beach in the early hours of yesterday morning.

David and Hannah suffered serious head wounds after a beach party.

The woman, from Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, was found wearing just a bikini top, and local press say that she had been raped during an attempted robbery.

It is believed Hannah graduated in 2013 from UEA and was studying at Essex.

Investigators found a bloodied garden hoe nearby, which they believe caused the pair’s head injuries.

Their bodies were found between 4am and 5am, 100 metres away from the scene of a beach party, according to a local report.
