We’re hiring an Editor for our new national site

The Tab is one of the fastest growing media companies in the world. In the past few months, we have opened an office of 15 editors in New York City, and launched 25 news sites in the US. Now we are looking to hire our first National Editor in London, who will lead the next phase of our development, as we transition from a college news network to a global media group with a much wider audience.

National editor
The position will be based in The Tab’s London office, near Old Street, working closely with our senior editors in New York. The National Editor will initially manage two full-time national reporters, and will commission further stories from our editorial staff of 10 and regular Tab freelancers. They will also pick the best stories from our network of 3,000 student reporters, some of whom will write regularly for the national site.

Successful applicants will have:
• At least three years of experience at leading media organisations
• The ability to commission stories that will replicate The Tab’s incredible engagement with university readers for a new audience
• An understanding of the values that have brought The Tab this far
• Excellent management and people skills
• Exceptional copy-editing and commissioning skills
• A great understanding of news on the internet and how to make stories shareable
• An encyclopaedic knowledge of twentysomething life in the UK – in the real world and on the internet
• The ambition to quickly grow an online audience
• Ability to work early mornings and weekends if needed

To apply, email [email protected] and [email protected] by Thursday December 31st with your CV and answers to the following questions:

• How would you add one million unique readers to The Tab’s monthly traffic?
• Suggest three original and shareable ideas for articles which would work on The Tab’s national site
• Give an example of a piece of journalism you are proud of, and an example of a piece you have written or edited that you would publish on our national site.

Salary: Dependent on experience.
