UT Chancellor takes on Trump

And we couldn’t be more proud

University of Texas System Chancellor Bill McRaven challenged Trump’s foreign policy statements during the 15th annual State Capitol reception honoring students from Mexico and Spain.

Without directly naming the orange-haired presidential candidate, he said: “I have been very frustrated…very angry at times with some of the political narrative that has gone on during this campaign season.”

This, of course, pertains to Texas and Trump’s plan to build a wall surrounding the Mexican border.

“What we understand here is that the quality of talent, the young citizens, the students, the people that are coming over from Mexico are bright…they are hard-working …they are making us better Americans.”

So while many remain fearful of our political future, it’s safe to say the UT campus is in safe and considerate hands.
