Investigation: Anyone with a laptop can access the USC Village CCTV system

You have to see it to believe it

The USC Village: that shining bastion of pointy things, anticapitalist and gentrifying exclusivity deals and, most recently, a potentially glaring threat to student privacy. We were able to hack into the Village construction camera using nothing but Google Chrome. The camera can be easily manipulated and zoomed into individual student bedrooms, and the system is open to other security cameras on campus as well. The total lack of cyber security is concerning, to say the least.

DPS Assistant Chief David Carlisle told The Tab: “DPS cameras are not online at the Village yet.

“It is probably a temporary camera put up by the construction company.”
