Former USC football head coach, Steve Sarkisian hired as the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons

Because no one is better to teach a team how to drink away a Super Bowl loss than Coach Sark

Steve Sarkisian “Sark,” the former head coach of USC’s football program from 2014-2015, is flying south to join the Atlanta Falcons as their new offensive coordinator.

Sark’s coaching career began at El Camino Community College in Torrance, CA, where he was a quarterback coach. He then made the move crosstown to USC for three years before landing a quarterback coaching position with the Oakland Raiders. After getting a quick taste of the NFL, Sark grabbed the head coach position at the University of Washington, which ended the season prior to his arrival with a devastating 0-12 record. While at UW, he turned the losing team into a winning team and made the Huskies the hustlers.

Feeling victorious, Sark left UW for the head coach position at USC, where he hoped to revitalize another team struggling to win. The NCAA sanctions on USC were finally lifted and rebuilding was in order, but Sark did not deliver. Within a short year and a half of his reign in Los Angeles, Sark was fired by Athletic Director Pat Haden after appearing intoxicated at several public events and team practices.

Following his prompt departure from USC, Sark landed a job at the top ranked University of Alabama, who ironically, the Trojans faced in their first game of the 2016 season. At Alabama, Sark worked as an analyst for the team before being promoted on Jan. 2, 2017 as the offensive coordinator after former USC head coach Lane Kiffin left that role for the head coach position at Florida Atlantic.

A mere month later, Sark entered the NFL once again as the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons, replacing Kyle Shanahan. The Falcons just lost Super Bowl LI in overtime to the New England Patriots in one of the most exciting and historic Super Bowl games of all time. Will Sark help the Falcons rebuild from devastation like he did at UW, or will he sink in drinks like he did at USC? Stay tuned.
