LA officially has the worst traffic in the world

We’re not exaggerating, we promise

Our worst fears have been confirmed: LA’s traffic is as bad as we thought.

In a study published Monday, transportation analytics firm Inrix declared that LA literally has the worst traffic out of any city in the world.

Inrix determined that the average American spends 42 hours in traffic each year. This is nothing compared to LA, where residents spend an average of 104 hours in traffic each year.

What’s more, evidence suggests that traffic is getting worse. In last year’s report, LA still had the top slot with 81 hours a year, showing a 23-hour increase. That’s nearly an entire extra day spent in traffic.

We all knew the traffic was bad, and now we have the data to prove it. Inrix also concluded that LA residents lose $2,500 a year on wasted time and fuel. This money could be spent on our textbooks, or at least go towards a better public transport system.

San Francisco was declared the fourth-most congested city, right behind New York who took third place. New Yorkers are estimated to spend 89 hours a year in traffic.

Time to start utilizing the Bruin Bus system, because it’s all downhill from here.
