UCI will pay half your tuition just for being good at video games

All those hours playing are finally paying off

Remember how your parents would harp on you for playing too many video games? Well, now you can let your parents know that you’re doing it for the betterment of your future.

With the opening of the new eSports arena, UCI is now recruiting students and offering partial-scholarships based on their skill and involvement in video games, specifically League of Legends.

The scholarship will cover about half of in-state tuition and UCI has already recruited five students, including four that originally did not apply for UCI. The five students will automatically qualify to compete on the UCI League of Legends team.

This scholarship and the new arena has allowed UCI to break onto the competitive collegiate eSports scene
