Bernie Sanders is coming to Irvine tomorrow

Are you ready to feel the Bern?

UC Irvine students are ready to Bern down for what this Sunday as senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders stops in Irvine on his California tour.

This past week Senator Sanders won the Oregon Democratic primary and almost won the Kentucky Democratic primary, but lost it by half of a percentage point to Hillary Clinton.

As of now, Sanders is only 274 delegates behind Hillary, with 930 delegates remaining undeclared.

Although the numbers are close, RealClearPolitics shows that in California Clinton has a 51% support over Sanders’s 41.3% support.

With the California primary election quickly approaching on June 7th, what Sanders accomplishes during his tour will either make or break his victory in California.

A big crowd is expected for Sanders this Sunday at The Irvine Meadows Amphitheater, which holds 16,000 people. This venue holds double the occupants of the Pacific Amphitheater where Trump hosted his rally earlier this month. We’re hoping this one is less violent and no police cars are harmed in the process.

Sanders has cultivated a large following of college students as supporters. Some of our very own students started a movement for Bernie Sanders and currently have over 400 likes on their Facebook page, which you can find here. They are also hosting a rally on campus next Friday, May 27th, and have over 1,100 people interested in attending.

Also worth mentioning, two weeks ago Susan Sarandon, Kendrick Sampson (How to Get Away with Murder) and Heather Matarrazo (The Princess Diaries) were all on campus to encourage college students to vote for Bernie. UC Irvine definitely feels the Bern!

If you’re planning on voting for Bernie Sanders make sure you register to vote by this Monday, May 23rd.

The rally this Sunday will be held at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater. Doors will open at 3pm and the event is set to begin at 6. If you’re interested in attending please RVSP and bring $10 for parking.
