Davis professor gives students ‘free pass’ to miss class after Trump election upset

‘I will be there so I hope you will join me, since I think education is more important than ever at this moment’

A UC Davis professor sent an email to students last night telling students she would not mark them as absent if they didn’t come to today’s class.

French and Italian professor, Molly Montgomery, sent the email at 11:30pm last night saying:

“Bonjour classe,

“If you do not come to class tomorrow, I will give you a pass and you will not be marked absent. However, I will be there so I hope you will join me, since I think education is more important than ever at this moment.”

The email was most likely in reaction to Trump’s shocking win in last night’s presidential election, after which UC Davis showed their displeasure and protested on campus.
