Decision to get rid of ‘Third Down for What’ splits Vols fans

Sorry Lil Jon

“Third Down for What” will not be returning to Neyland this year. During his weekly press conference, UT coach Butch Jones said “we’ll have some different songs to get the crowd energized.”

On social media and campus the reaction to the news has been mixed.

Some think that the song was an integral part to game days, student Alexa Basinger said the song “was a huge part of the experience in Neyland and taking away is honestly a tragedy.”

Others were less keen on the song and are happy that it has been pulled from the game day playlist. Joe Chirico, a current UT student said “I am very happy with the administration’s decision, largely due to the fact that much of Lil Jon’s work as an artist does not reflect the values and beliefs of the University of Tennessee and the principles for which we stand.”
