SMC officially renamed Lew Klein College

Lew Klein’s wife stole the show, Bob Saget stole Lew Klein’s wife.

The School of Media and Communication is officially history. The class of 2017 will be the first official graduates of the Lew Klein College of Media and Communication.

While the Mr. Lew Klein has an extraordinarily impressive resume, his wife Janet stole the spotlight at tonight’s naming ceremony.

The two love birds both thanked each other graciously throughout their speeches, proving the actual definition of relationship goals. Add that to your resume, Mr. Klein.

“The one I owe everything to is Janet. Janet, nothing would be anything if it weren’t for you. You are my life,” Klein proudly stated before ending his speech by walking over to his beautiful wife.

Honorary guest and host Bob Saget, along with his fellow speakers, were incredibly vocal about their admiration and love for Mrs. Klein. Saget closed the ceremony by stating, “I am in love with Janet,” calling her a great lover of life and a beautiful woman.

Since 1952, the broadcast pioneer has blessed Temple with his incredible teachings and mentorship, inspiring nearly 7,000 students during his 65 years here.

“From the moment Lew and I met, we have supported each other’s interests and achievements,” Mrs. Klein stated. When you live a life as successful and innovative as Lew Klein, you need a Janet on your arm to keep your grounded.

Though Mr. Klein took a chance by entering the risky television business, he has left a huge impact on the communications industry.

When you think of television, think of Lew Klein. When you think of Lew Klein, think of Temple University. Although a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Klein has dedicated decades of service and monetary gifts to Temple which we are forever grateful for.

As Temple continues to rise in national rankings, bringing in faculty from all around the country, Lew Klein is right behind the movement, helping us gain even more momentum.

Comedian Bob Saget kept the ceremony light, stating  Jay Z and Lady Gaga were notably absent.

When President of WPVI, Bernie Prazenica, took his turn at the podium to honor Mr. Klein, he admitted he had to google what Saget’s characters name was on Full House, to which Saget replied, “I try to forget it myself.”

The Keystone State Boychoir, Pennsylvania Girlchoir, and soloist Bobby Hill helped honor Lew Klein by singing “Sing a Rainbow,” one of Klein’s hidden masterpieces. Mr. Klein, after shedding a few tears, even joined in himself.

Because he paved the way for American Band Stand, Action News, and Danny Tanner, we are honored to have the privilege of learning under Mr. Klein and to now become graduates of the Lew Klein College of Media and Communication.

Senior Vice Provost of Strategic Communications, Betsy Tutelman said it best:

“Thank you Janet for sharing Lew with us for 65 years.”
