We calculated the real cost of missing one class within each school at Temple University

We’re all guilty of it…

On grey and cold days, our warm beds call out to us; and on days when the sun is shining, the city wants us to explore all it has to offer.

I’ll be the first to admit it, some days the last thing I want to do is sit in lecture from 9:30am – 3:20pm. Yet, I never thought about the monetary cost of skipping just one class.

After using the algebra I swore I wouldn’t need again, I calculated the cost of missing one class for each of the schools within Temple University. I only factored in the tuition cost for the average amount of credits, and excluded the cost of meal plans or room and board.

The cost of missing one class is as follows:

As a School of Media and Communication student, I was surprised that missing just one class would cost students on average $59.07 in-state, or $98.76 out-of-state.

All I can say is that I’ll think twice before missing another lecture.
