President Trump will be visiting Philadelphia tomorrow

Protests have been planned for his arrival at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel

Within just a few days of being inaugurated, Donald Trump will visit Philadelphia for a retreat at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel—where the Republican party will be discussing important topics that could affect millions of Americans.

If you didn’t know about this retreat, Washington Examiner reports Republicans will discuss on how to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, and it’s also the first time GOP lawmakers will strategize with the president to plan an agenda that has a chance of becoming a law (rather than it dying in Congress or earning a presidential veto like it would have under an Obama administration).

Annual retreats are usual occurrence for both parties, but our newly elected president has been causing an uproar with his recent actions during his first few days in office.

He has already revived the Keystone Pipeline rejected by Obama, is expected to sign an executive order to fund a border wall, and has signed an anti-abortion Executive order affecting international organizations receiving U.S. funding if they provide or lobby for abortion services— so, needless to say, the city of Philadelphia will not be too fond of him during the visit.

Various protest are planned for tomorrow such as Resistance in Philly: Fighting for our lives and Republican Retreat in Philly: Surround the Loews Hotel/Perimeter, and, according to the event pages on Facebook, both groups already have thousands of protesters planning to go.

Resistance in Philly’s event page states that it’s imperative everyone shows up to the protest to take action and resist the agenda planned by the Republican party.

“On January 26, Trump and every Republican member of the House and Senate will gather in Philadelphia to meet for the first time since inauguration to plan their 2017 agenda. We, the people, stand together to resist their cynical agenda of greed, hate, and division. Donald Trump, Paul Ryan, and their billionaire friends have revealed their first act: take away our health care to provide tax cuts for their rich friends.”

The Republican Retreat in Philly: Surround the Loews Hotel/Perimeter has warned protesters of the increased police presence during their protest.

“However, please be aware that in an action of this size, police repression is always a possibility. In that event, our best defense is our numbers and our solidarity. Our intention is to make good on our promise to surround Loews hotel, to let the politicians know that we are UNGOVERNABLE! Use the hashtag #loewsprotest to keep informed up-to-the-minute on social media.”

The Tab Temple will continue to have more updates on the protests and Trump’s visit to Philadelphia.
