Everything that makes Temple University worth all the buzz

Cherry looks good on everyone

Since our shattered record of freshman applications, the talk of Temple University has grown tremendously. While the university is constantly doing things that stand out compared to other universities, there’s still a small percentage of people who hesitate due to the location.

Temple students and alumni will proudly defend the university and explain why being located in North Philadelphia shouldn’t stop possible future students from applying. In fact, a lot of people argue that the location is unique and has a lot to provide.

We’re located in the heart of Philadelphia

Unlike some universities located in the middle of nowhere, Temple students don’t have to worry about a place to hang or where to find basic needs. Around here, even people who aren’t familiar with Philly, get a chance to become cultured and learn about the city of brotherly love.

All over the city there’s different types of attractions, tours, museums, and exhibits for students to become aware and understand the history of Philadelphia.

Our pride is HUGE when it comes to Philadelphia’s teams: The Phillies, the Eagles, the Flyers, and the 76ers.

We boast about all the different food places to try down here, especially when it comes to cheesesteaks. Of course once people explore the different restaurants, food becomes a popular debate. It’s an exciting city for those who come from a plain, suburb/farm area to experience and educate themselves.

Beury Beach/Bell Tower

Whether warm or cold, this area is crawling with students. Once the weather is nice, you could find everyone hanging out at Beury, usually in the afternoon is when the area is packed with most student laying out on the chairs, doing homework, chatting with friends or simply taking a break from the stress of classes.

A lot of times, there will be some type of entertainment with DJs, dancing, or people showing off their talents. It’s also a popular area for clubs and organizations to promote themselves on campus.

Travel

There’s multiple ways for students to get around Philly without having to go too far out of their way. Biking is pretty popular for students but that’s more for when traveling on campus.

If you’re trying to leave campus and explore the city, there’s Uber, the Broad Street Line and SEPTA’s Regional Rail which are all fairly cheap.

There are also buses that come at all different locations throughout campus and they have signs notifying people which bus it is and where they are taking them. The ride is about $2.25 which is the same amount as the subway. The subway is the most common type of transportation students use because they can go Northbound or Southbound. Students can either spend cash or spend a couple bucks to get subway tokens or passes.

Hot spots

Popular places such as City Hall, Rittenhouse Square, South Street, 30th Street station, Fairmount Park, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the sports complex in South Philly and the Wells Fargo Center are within a short drive or subway trip to our campus.

Students will never have an excuse to say “There’s nothing to do around here.”

Sports

During football season, the Lincoln Financial Field is packed with students wearing cherry and white. Lot K is the spot to be for an exciting tailgate that gets you pumped up for the game.

During the game, there’s all types of entertainment going on to keep the students alive whether its the band, contests, or students making their own cheers.

The parties

Not much needs to be said to describe how wild Temple parties can be.

Party hopping down here is the place to be since so many different parties are happening at once and a lot of these parties often lead to block parties.

What makes their parties stand out though is all the different people you meet and how easily these people can become like family.
