Syracuse students stage die-in on promenade

Today at 12:30pm, a die-in was staged on SU’s new promenade. The die-in lasted 10 minutes to bring awareness to the fact that in 2015 102 unarmed black people were shot by police officers, yet in only the 10 cases represented was the officer charged with a crime.

To start the die-in, one person yelled “201”, and all those who were participating hit the ground, where they remained until 12:40pm.

Information about the die-in was specifically kept off of social media, and out of SYR email accounts, and instead was spread around through word of mouth and text messages.
