British students have launched a new app, and it’s a cross between Facebook and Instagram

‘A new way to create short, structured stories from all your photos and videos’

Let’s be frank: apart from a handful of accounts, standards of photography on Instagram were never too great to begin with. Just think of those periodic account cleanses that the admin have to undertake.

Likewise, Facebook is turning into a photo-dump – users stuffing yet more identical photos into an album that’s already brimming with hundreds from that Euro Trip five months ago.

And really, it’s all about the likes. Unhealthy, exhausting, obsession-breeding.

So. Introducing Showzee: the latest and greatest app that says it’s going to tackle all of the above, and more. Started by Brits Ryan, Justin, and Marlon Gruss, it’s about the quality, not the quantity. Customize what you see from other users on your newsfeed (ShowStream) based on your interests and hobbies – choose from over 40 categories, from travel to nightlife, charity to gaming, and music to start-ups.

And create your own album (Showzee) of 10 photos or less, share it with the community, and post it even to Facebook if you wish. In place of likes, spark albums if you enjoy their content – higher quality photos, no more meaningless likes, and possibly less social media anxiety for you.

Co-founder and CEO Marlon said: “Life is defined by our experiences and these deserve to be remembered. Not everyone is a graphic designer or has time to spend hours creating content. Experiences are more than just a single photo.

“With Showzee, we’re giving people a new way to create short, structured stories from all their photos and videos in a matter of minutes.”

The app claims each and every Showzee is unique, a mini-story that allows you to discover others with the same passions.

It launches today on the App Store, with an Android version on the way.
