An international agency offered spots at Purdue saying ‘Low Scores, Don’t Worry’

And they tried to trick applicants to go to the Calumet campus

Purdue University Calumet is reviewing its involvement with a recruitment company called Global Tree Overseas Education Consultants after a misleading ad.

According to a larger report from The New York Times, the ad emphasized the university as “world class” but lenient with admission standards by saying, “Low Scores, Don’t Worry.” Furthermore, the ad included smaller print saying all of this was for admission to the Calumet campus, rather than the main campus here in West Lafayette.

A spokesman for Purdue regarded the ad “unfortunate and disconcerting.”

A number of US universities are using this company to fill spots. The company and its employers receive money proportionally to how many students enroll, leading to problematic deceptive advertising tactics.
