Movin’ On will now allow Commonwealth campus students to compete in Battle of The Bands

The opener spot is up for grabs

Movin’ On opened their Battle of the Bands applications last night and expanded the application to students at Penn State’s 19 Commonwealth campuses.

This is the first year that Movin’ On will accepts students from Commonwealth campuses as well as University Park students. In order to be eligible, all participiating bands must have an undergraduate or graduate student that attends a Penn State campus.

Students who compete in Battle of The Bands will perform in a live competition, from which one winner will be selected to get a 30 minute opener spot at Penn State’s free music festival, Movin’ On.

Last year’s winner Cecil Blutcher, played alongside Sammy Smith, Misterwives, Nelly and Walk The Moon according to a press release from Movin’ On.

“Movin’ On’s mission is to promote student acts as well as provide a wide array of artists as a send-off to graduating seniors all free of charge.”

After applications are received Movin’ On’s CORE committee picks the eight bands to participate in Battle of The Bands.

Applications are up until Feb. 25th, 2017 at 5pm and musicians can enter to compete through this link. The Battle of The Bands competition will be on March 25th and it will be held in Alumni Hall.
