These are the best places to brunch near NYU

Restaurants that aren’t overhyped… yet

Whether you’re trying to get your friends together for your weekly weekend brunch, or want to impress your parents when they come visit, it’s a constant struggle to choose a restaurant, let alone one where you can actually find a table.

Luckily, the Greenwich Village area have some of the best brunch places around, many that are undiscovered by popular foodies and Instagram stars. Behold, in no particular order, some of the best brunches around NYU.

This place is a spin-off  between an Italian and American spot with lots of tasty dishes. Featuring dishes like Nutella French Toast and Mac and Cheese, it’s a great spot when you’re feeling a little bit of both cuisines.

Cornelia St. Cafe (29 Cornelia St)

Classic American cafe brunch. They offer a great 25 dollar fixed price, which comes with 2 drinks, an entree and a pastry. The menu has a pretty vast selection, from ‘Kale Caesar salad’ to ‘Farmer’s breakfast’. The ambience has a similar feeling to Sarabeth’s downtown on 5th Avenue, where you can get a similarly delicious (but more pricey) brunch.

This place was actually opened by the same people behind The Smith.  So, think the Smith but better! The Vanilla Bean French Toast is definitely a standout, but really everything is top-notch. They also take reservations, which is good for when your parents are coming to visit and take you out to brunch.

Malt House (206 Thompson St.)

Despite being a bar, Malt House’s brunch has a little something for everyone. From the slow-braised breakfast burrito to the Kellog’s crunchy French toast, it’s so good I’m hungry writing about it. Also, you can make your brunch bottomless for $15!

Carroll Place (157 Bleecker St)

This popular bar and Italian eatery has lots of options for everyone. From eggs to pasta and pizza, and also a bottomless brunch. The ambience is very nice and definitely adds to the experience.

This brand new Australian spot has favorites such as avocado toast, as well as has salads and chia bowls for those on a health-kick.

Arguably some of the best hummus in the city, 12 chairs also has a great schnitzel and shakshuka dish. You’ll feel like you are in Tel-Aviv, just without the beach and gorgeous weather.

Toloache (205 Thompson)

Toloache is the perfect spot when you’re craving a Mexican-style brunch. Their bottomless brunch goes for $19.95, and the menu has a bounty of yummy dishes from tacos to banana French toast.
