The best signs from today’s LGBTQ rally against Trump

Donald Trump: I am sorry my dear, but you are up for elimination

New York’s LGBTQ community rallied together on Saturday in solidarity with immigrants, asylum seekers, refugees, and “every person impacted by Donald Trump’s illegal, immoral, unconstitutional and un-American executive orders.”

People turned out with American flags, Pride flags, and countless signs mocking Trump, expressing anger at the travel ban, and declaring unity among each other. One person donned a pageant-style costume, merging President Trump with the Statue of Liberty.

In front of Stonewall Inn, thousands of New Yorkers gathered to listen to Broadway star Judy Kuhn lead in singing “What the World Needs Now,” followed by speakers from the New York Immigration coalition, LGBTQ alliances, and Sen. Charles Schumer.

Council member Corey Johnson opened his remarks with, “I am gay, I am HIV+, and I am a New Yorker. If you’ve been terrorized by this demagogic tyrant, we have your back.” He referenced the riots of the 1969. “Stonewall taught us that this victory is not easy…. Now it is our time to fight back, it’s our time to take to the streets. We will treat injustices done against our neighbor as injustices done against us.”

He closed with a reminder to vote in 2018 for a Congress that will protect “against this maniac’s un-American agenda.”

Here are some of the best signs from the event.
