Everywhere you should take your parents on NC State’s campus

Definitely not the bookstacks

It’s no secret that NC State is a beautiful campus, especially during the fall. This is the time when prospective students are visiting and parents are coming to see their kids and the place they call home.

Get your camera ready to take Ma and Pa to the prettiest places State has to offer. These are all the locations on campus that were made to show off.

North Campus

The wolf ears

Fun fact: this was taken on my first tour of NCSU

This crazy act of science is always a cool place to show people. If you lie back in the concrete ear as someone lies in the opposite ear, you can whisper to each other and hear them clearly. Let’s be honest: they aren’t very aesthetically pleasing, but they are a unique part of our campus.

The Brickyard

This is one of the most popular spots on campus. Here you can find sororities selling random baked goods for charity, the weekly farmer’s market, the infamous Brickyard preacher hurting people’s feelings and so much more. This is the perfect people-watching spot, and it’s never boring.

Court of North Carolina

This open space is often a place where students can go to lay out and relax or do group exercises. Certain times of the year, it is used as a display area for holidays and memorials. In the past, there were always dogs present in the Court of NC, but the new campus rule banned non-service dogs from campus and made everyone salty.

The bell tower

Contrary to their facial expressions, the bell tower is a beautiful, inviting photo-op near Hillsborough Street. Not only is it historically significant to our school, but if you visit at the right time, it may be lit up in celebration of another Wolfpack dub (or so we hope).

Central Campus

Wolf Plaza

At one point or another, every student gets their picture taken on a wolf statue. But this can include family, too. Start them early so they know they belong with the Pack.

Raleigh is a beautiful place that has a little something for everyone. Next time the fam comes to visit, take them to The Player’s Retreat or Chargrill and give them a little taste of Wolfpack Nation. We’re always happy to welcome new wolves into our pack.
