Food, sleep, and parents: Every reason to love Thanksgiving Break

Bring out the turkey

Can you smell it? Forget the #MannequinChallenge and bring out the Turkey.

We all know how much everyone loves thanksgiving and have decided to come up with a list of reasons why college students look forward to the first actual break of the semester:

Freedom at last

There is nothing like going home to a bed that you never thought you’d miss so much. If you are a freshman, this one’s mostly for you because you guys get to not wear flip flops in shower, change in the bathroom/your dorm room with someone watching, or share anything and everything for the next couple of days.

But as for all of us, this is a break where we are able to avoid one night stand encounters, have no classes, commitments (unless they are to Netflix) and are able to just breathe.

Bring on the food

Thanksgiving starts the process of the holiday season weight gain. Honestly, the amount of food that there is going to be consumed for the next two months is just insane and such a great thing. So if this is your bulking season, its go time. From desserts to turkeys to potatoes, bring it on!

Sleep for days

The best activity in the world. Thanksgiving break is like the Olympics for sleep. As a college student our number one priority is sleep, yet the least thing we get to do is sleep. Over this break we hope many of you get to actually have a good night’s rest and nap all you want because you all deserve it especially after all the food you will be consuming.

Shoutout to parents for the smothering

Friendsgiving or winegiving?

Our college friends consists of people from all over. From India to LA, these people have become apart of our everyday lives. So it is a priority to have a proper “Friendsgiving” with the people you spend so much time with before heading home. Even though, these dinners consist of wine and more wine, they still are very special. Plus, you can pig out without having your nagging aunt asking if you’re dating yet.

Okay so maybe not the whole break but lets admit it, the first few days, your parents are so excited to see you that they find any and every moment to be with you. Whether it is making you breakfast, doing the laundry you brought home, or making you go grocery shopping with them, they want to be with you.  Then by the end they act like they are ready for you to go back to school again but you know they’ll always miss you more each time you leave.

Hometown delicacies

If you are from New Jersey, bagels are life, plain and simple (with a little bit of cream cheese). However, every home town has that one or a few shops that we have grown up interacting with. Unless your from Massachusetts, all you people ever talk about is Dunkin Donuts.

Leftovers are the best

CAN WE TALK ABOUT ALL THE FOOD YOU GET TO BRING BACK TO COLLEGE WITH YOU? If any make it to the Sunday before you have to return.  Leftovers is the best thing to exist because you get to have turkey again and again until your container is empty, then you cry.

Home friends or homefries?

Our lives are insanely busy, so it can sometimes be hard to find time to visit friends who go to school in other states. This is the time where you can reach out to friends who are home and catch up with them! Everyone needs that dose of “old friendship” that makes them really feel at home.

Everyone is talking about how thankful they are

Listen to your momma, you are special and many people care for you. Let them tell you all they want at this dinner! It’s not selfish to be happy when people tell you they’re thankful that you’re in their life; it’s human to want to be reminded that we really are accepted and loved by the people around us. Unless you have an aunt patty who is drunk off her mind and spilling family secrets.

Christmas countdown officially begins

Uhm Hello. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. SANTA IS COMING.
