If Iowa residence halls were your friends

We all have that one friend…

We all have differing personalities in our friend groups, forcing us to tolerate some members of our “squad” more than others.

If you had to compare the squad to anything, the easiest and most comparable thing to match them to would be the residence halls at The University of Iowa.

Hillcrest and Burge are always drunk and always hungry

Yep, you guessed it, Hillcrest and Burge Hall are your “permanently hungry friends,” considering the dining halls located in their building. On the other hand, these dimes fall into two categories; hungry and drunk.

If you’re going out with these two, better pack a picnic because they’ll both spend too much money on drinks, end up hungry on the way home, and be begging for something to eat by midnight.

Granted these two are a bit of a handful, and you might end up babysitting for the night instead of partying it up like you expected, but you know they’ve got your back when it’s your time to get turnt.

Daum is obviously the “wise guy”

If Daum was your friend he would be the know it all.

Completely lost in chemistry class? He’s got you covered. Have a question about, well, anything? He is right there with the answer – even if your question wasn’t directed towards him. *insert eye roll*

Granted his “wise guy” personality may be a huge pain in the butt, he ultimately means well and really can get you out of a rough spot, even if it doesn’t seem like it.

Parklawn and Mayflower are the anti-social friend

You know that one person in the squad that NEVER wants to do anything? Well, that’s Parklawn and Mayflower.

This introverted friend would rather chill in their room on a Friday night, binge watch the whole 6th season of Grey’s Anatomy, and eat an entire package of Oreos.

On the other hand, sometimes this friend is all the therapy you need after an argument with your mom or a break up with your high school sweetheart.

Currier and Stanley Hall are the inseparable duo

In every friend group there are the two best friends, and on Iowa’s campus, Currier and Stanley Hall fit this definition.

You can’t have one without the other, and these two ladies are connected at the hip – literally.

At times they may isolate themselves from the group, but we all know they still care about the squad just as much as everyone else.

Are you ready for an adventure? Hit up the Quad Squad

Are you down for a good time? Ready for an adventure? Quadrangle Hall is your go to person.

He’s always up for anything, whether it be a night out on the town, a midnight trip to Iowa City’s Oakland Cemetery to pay a visit to the Black Angel, or something completely new you never thought of doing.

Quad always has you covered and would never leave you bored or disappointed.

West side dorm Quad may be pretty bold, but being 96 years old qualifies him as an old soul at heart

Petersen Hall is the on-campus celebrity

The one everybody flocks to at a party, the guy who gets all the ladies, and the annoyingly talented friend.

A low-key celebrity, and bit cocky, but he will always give you “best friend perks.” Petersen will score you and the rest of your buddies some of the best seats in the house at his games and invites to all the best parties on campus.

His raw talent may make you envious, but all in all you’re a proud friend and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Rienow and Slater Hall – that friend who’s always “On their way”

You could compare me to Rienow and Slater Hall because I’m the friend that will forever say, “I’m on my way” and I’ll still be picking out my outfit with no makeup on.

The squad should take into consideration the fact that Rienow and Slater are both on the west side of campus, which is a reasonable excuse to be fashionably late. Not only that, but these two probably just want to look fly as ever for whatever you guys have planned.
