I’m not from a Chicagoland suburb, I’m from Chicago, and it’s incredible

Is there another city quite like it?

“What Chicagoland suburb are you from?” The frustrating question I receive on a daily basis. If I was from a Chicagoland suburb, would I be familiar with all the Northside neighborhoods, beaches, and memory filled streets I walk everyday that make up the beautiful city?

My hometown is the most unique, diverse, and fun filled city ever. Truthfully. Who can say they went to Montrose Beach with their dog, visited their dad working at the firehouse directly across from Wrigley Field, and stopped by the Roscoe Village Ribfest all before noon? I can. Chicago is packed with eager and motivated people ready to have fun, explore the city, and create lifelong memories.

The music scene is second to none

There are so many reasons to love my home. For an avid music lover, you feel so comfortable being surrounded by people who are just as interested as you are to find new music. Pitchfork Music Festival, a three day Union Park hosted event, really allows Chicago to become emerged in amazing music and share this time with your friends.

There is nothing better than going to a cubs game

Seeing your favorite baseball team score a homerun or strikeout a batter at Wrigley Field is such a fun filled, energetic, and memorable time. Not to mention the liveliness of Wrigleyville in general, attending a Cubs game is one of the most fun things you can do in the city.

Don’t forget to eat a Chicago style hot dog and sing your heart out at the seventh inning stretch.

I can go to a gorgeous beach whenever I need to

You want to spend a day at the beach? I can only imagine how long in advance that takes to plan. Some might even have to wait until a family vacation to visit a beach and have fun in the sun. Me? I’m a short train ride away from so many beautiful beaches that surround my city.

Of all the beaches to choose from, Montrose Beach remains the one I love. Having both a beach for yourself and also a dog beach, is extremely exciting. Bring a speaker and some sunscreen and enjoy the beauty of the skyline behind you.

The nightlife is exceptional

Come nighttime, the city remains just as lively as the daytime. Comedy shows are great fun. My favorite remains UP Comedy Club on North Ave because the venue is great and the comedians are hilarious. Their performances never fail to entice the audience and fill the room with laughter.

It’s probably the most beautiful city in the world

Above all events, restaurants, and neighborhoods within the city, what is best is the natural beauty that the city possesses. Anyone can tell you about it, but experiencing it yourself is a whole different feeling. Spend a day just enjoying this beauty, hang out on the grass and take in the incredible view. Over anything else, this is what I am the most proud of when I tell people I live in Chicago.

With so many things to do within the city, it’s no surprise that this place really is the perfect atmosphere. There is so much opportunity, entertainment and attractions, Chicago is the most unique place I know, and I’m so lucky to call this city my home.
