UIUC student’s medical records to be examined in infant death case

Johnson’s hearing is scheduled for June 2nd

Lindsay L. Johnson, age 20, of Monee, IL was charged with First Degree Murder of her newborn baby in a dormitory bathroom of UIUC. Police found the woman near the Music Building on campus with the deceased baby in her backpack, on March 13th.

At a preliminary hearing, prosecutors motioned to subpoena medical records for Johnson from the University of Illinois’ Mckinley Health Center. As reported by the Champaign News Gazette, presiding Judge Tom Difanis asked the prosecution team if he could see the documents to determine if they are relevant to the case at hand.

The defense suggested that they would likely object to allowing the records in court, for reasons not yet known.

Johnson’s hearing is scheduled for June 2nd. Until then, she is free on a $75,000 bond paid by her parents.
