Meet Harvard’s Class of 2021: Céline Hem

She’s also my cousin

Last month Christmas came early for 938 students, who found out they’re the newest members of Harvard’s Class of 2021.

Out of the 6,473 high schoolers who applied to the college this year, only 14.5 percent were admitted. So what does it take to get into Harvard early? Well, let’s meet some of the amazing students that make up the class of 2021 – the first in a new series.

Céline Hem (also my cousin)

Hometown: Lyon, France.

High School: Lycée Louis-le-Grand, Paris, France.

Favorite food: Everything!!!! ?

Favorite color: Purple.

Favorite song: The entire Les Misérables sound track, and Hamilton.

Hobbies: Cooking, Violin, Volleyball, Science Olympiad, Latin Society, and most importantly reading.

What was your reaction when you found out you got into Harvard?

I was in disbelief, I had to refresh the congratulation page a few times to make sure that it was real.

Where were you when you found out and who was the first person you told?

I was at home and I ecstatically told my parents and siblings, my twin brother had just gotten into Stanford a few days earlier so as you can imagine my parents were extremely happy.

What are you looking forward to at Harvard? Anything in particular that interest you?

Studying with my awesome cousin who will be a junior next year ?

Is there anything that you’re nervous about?

I heard the food is bad ?

Are there any myths that you may have heard about Harvard?

My cousin says students run around Harvard Yard naked before finals.

What would you like to study at Harvard?

Neuroscience.
