Students Organize for Syria is handing out roses today

they are asking fellow students to open their hearts to Syrian refugees

This Valentine’s Day, Students Organize for Syria will be handing out roses

It is their annual “Roses from Refugees” event

In the wake of one of the greatest humanitarian crises, the United Nations identified 13.5 million Syrians in need of humanitarian aid. Leaders across the globe have accepted or rejected refugees, but on Valentine’s Day, University of Florida students are simply asked to accept refugees into their hearts.

Rana Al-Nahhas, the President of Students Organize for Syria says, “The event is called ‘Roses from Refugees’ to humanize refugees and counteract what Trump and the media make them out to be. We included an excerpt from a poem and on the bottom asked people ‘will you be my home? will you be my Valentine.’ We want people to open their hearts to one another even if it’s someone they don’t know.”

Students Organize for Syria will be outside the Reitz from 10am to 2pm handing out roses
