There were two anti-Trump rallies on campus this evening

The one at the DUC was met with applause from bystanders

Today, at around 6pm, two anti-Trump rallies were organized by Emory students in protest of the vandalism that took place this morning.

The first rally took place in front of the Administration Building and the second one took place during prime dinner time at the Dobbs University Centre.

Esther Garcia, a first year student and an International Studies and Anthropology major said: “It was student coordinated. There wasn’t really any leader or club or community.

“Various communities came together to do this. This isn’t just about Trump.

“It is about what he stands for: racism, bigotry, sexism, classicism, ableism, etc. We aren’t just people who are consistently angry.

“We are hurt and outwardly affected by what Trump symbolizes and stands for.”

Protestors in front of the Administration building

Students participating in this rally held upsigns saying “Stop Trump 2016”.

Protesters chanted: “No justice. No peace. Stop Trump. Un pueblo unido jamas sera vencido.”

The protestors were shown support on Yik Yak for their demonstration, as this morning’s vandals were deemed “immature”.

The rally at the DUC ended after a good 15 minutes and the protestors dispersed.

Their efforts were rewarded with applause and whistles from the people grabbing a meal at that time.
