These are the best college meme groups in America, as voted for by you

The results may or may not surprise you

Recently college meme groups have swept the country with their university-themed jokes and strikingly relatable content – so we asked all of you to vote on which one you think is the spiciest. Here are the top three (along with some of their greatest hits):

WINNER:

UC Berkeley Memes for Edgy Teens, with 31 percent of the vote

UCBMFET is the original college meme group, and if you see a repost, chances are it’s from one of the many stressed and sleep deprived meme-creating Cal students. Popular themes include stereotyping EECS students as socially awkward virgins and calling HAAS students snakes – both of which are surefire ways to get likes. It’s also important to point out that UCBMFET was briefly trolled by Martin Shkreli, and if there exists one factor that can prove the wildness of a meme group, it’s probably that.

For the sake of diversity, I decided to include only non-EECS/HAAS memes in this article. But don’t worry, here are some of their other greatest hits (which are just as worthy!):

It looks like some of that Silicon Valley entrepreneurship rubbed off on these Cal students, considering they’ve successfully turned this already great meme into an entirely new level of meme.

Oh come on, why did they have to bring Elmo into this?

Wait, is this in reference to what I think it’s in reference to? That’s genius. Utterly genius.

SECOND PLACE

Official Unofficial Penn Squirrel Catching Club, with 14 percent of the vote

Many Penn students aren’t too happy with the fact that President Donald J. Trump once roamed the hallways of their school, but they make up for it with funny memes targeting this controversial alumnus. Official Unofficial Penn Squirrel Catching Club is also filled with jabs at the various colleges in the university, the primary targets being Wharton and the Wharton-Engineering dual degree program M&T.

Yet despite receiving the second greatest number of votes in our poll (and securing all those internships), these squirrels won’t rest until they’re #1. Admin Anton Relin’s latest group-wide message instructed the students to up their content by cutting down on “snek” and M&T posts. Fortunately for Anton, the memelords have taken these words to heart – check out some of their most notable content:

You don’t have to be good at math to know that 1100 likes on a meme is pretty dang impressive.

At this point does anyone even know what a real Illinois ID looks like?

Dating is only for the uncultured.

THIRD PLACE

Columbia Buy Sell Memes, with 11 percent of the vote

Columbia Buy Sell Memes has united the student body with a fiery love for Rafael Ortiz and burning hatred for that kid in lithum. Valuable currency in Columbia b/s/m include love posts about JJ’s Place, bitter commentary about the ongoing gentrification of Harlem, and of course, complaints about the infamous Core Curriculum. Columbia students are simultaneously woke, hungry, and kind of lazy. But hey, maybe that’s what it takes to be a successful memelord. See for yourself:

Speaking as someone who lives right next door to Lerner, there’s really nothing that would make me want to hang out on those ramps.

Skipping that 8:40 is always acceptable, unless it’s Gulati’s Principles of Econ.

There are too many people who deserve to be tagged in this post.
