It was a strange sight that would soon become familiar: four or five girls carrying a dark blue single XL mattress through College Walk.

For a whole year, senior Emma Sulkowicz walked through Columbia carrying a mattress like the one she said she was raped on.

Within days, campus was abuzz with calls for solidarity events, and the story quickly captured national attention.

It was the central focus of the 2014-’15 school year, and dominated conversation. So two and a half years on, what’s changed? Did Carry That Weight have a lasting impact on the way we live and work at Columbia?
