Mysterious T-Rex men on campus identified
It’s a bird, it’s a plane…it’s a T-Rex?
Most students seem to have opted out of Halloween yesterday while still trying to recover from this past Halloweekend. Yet, a few students on campus have kept up with the festivities dressed as elves, Harry Potter, skeletons, or Batman. While their costumes may have been good, the award for the craziest costume of all goes to the two men skipping class to run around in the inflatable T-Rex costumes.
You may have seen them Friday night running around the West Campus dining hall, but who are these mysterious T-Rex men? They have been identified as Adam Sheikali (’18) and Matt Gilbert (’17) of the BU Men’s Soccer Team. The Tab spoke with the teammates about why they did this.

Who’s idea was this?
We got the idea from vines and YouTube videos. We saw how funny they looked when they ran and knew we had to try it out. We thought that it’d be a great idea to get one for Halloween.
When did you guys decide to do this?
We decided to do this about a month before Halloween. We tried our hardest to keep it a secret from everybody. Our costumes came in on October 19th, but we first wore them out this Friday in the dining hall to surprise our team during family dinner. We then ran around StuVi and hid around corners and by the elevators to pop out and scare people. We even wore them today to Chipotle and ran around the athletic facilities to have some fun.
How many people got you on their Snap Chat stories?
I would say at least 100. Everywhere we went, people were filming us, stopping us for pictures, and giving us hugs and high fives. Nobody recognized us unless they got really close, in which case they could see our face through the mesh.
What was the hardest part of wearing the costumes?
It got extremely hot inside the costumes and it was difficult to see at times. Also, stairs were a pretty big challenge.
What your favorite moment about running around in the suit?
I think just seeing people’s reactions. After running through the dining hall we realized we had literally ten people behind us Snap Chatting. Being able to see people’s reactions was the best part.
Do you plan on doing this again next year?
We’re not sure yet, so you’ll have to wait and see. We really like the costumes and definitely, will keep them for awhile.
The security guard in StuVi2 even offered $100 for both suits, but the guys aren’t ready to part with the costumes just yet. If you want your own inflatable T-Rex suit, they’re sold on Amazon for as low as $50.
