UA has hired a puppy as its newest police officer

There’s a new sheriff in town

The University of Arizona Police Department has just added a recent member to their team.  Trigger, a chocolate lab will be the newest addition to the force and will be working with narcotics.

For the last year, Trigger has been trained to recognize narcotics such as marijuana, methamphetamine, ecstasy, heroine, and cocaine.

Provided from the National Drug Intelligence Center, Phoenix and Tucson are the most significant areas of illicit drug trafficking and abuse.

By adding a K-9 to the force, it will speed up the process of investigating related matters.

Sophomore Mariel Bustamante said: “It seems that most students don’t take UAPD seriously and think of them as TPDs lapdogs.  I believe canines for UAPD will definitely give them more power and perhaps more respect from the student body, but I can’t say the University made a good investment.”
