An honest map of App State because we all know Boone better than anyone else

Rivers Street aka Don’t speed unless you want to get a ticket Street

Appalachian State University campus is not large enough where you have to worry about being lost. The map given to freshman or transfer students is one to help you find the building locations but there are some small points that are omitted. We decided to make a new map that showed the true points of what you will find on  the ASU campus.

Lil Wayne future concert (2017) & other touring artists

Lil Wayne concert tickets sold out within hours. Many people were surprised he would come to Boone of all places and since the tickets were cheap students took advantage of this to see him perform live. The Holmes Convocation Center is a place where many artists have performed such as last year’s 1975 concert, now Lil Wayne can be added to the list of these performers.

Don’t speed

One thing that is well-known around Boone, especially ASU campus, is the police monitor speeding very well. So learn from others mistakes and do not speed especially on Rivers Street, where the campus police department is located.

Tunnels to express ‘yoself’

The infamous paint tunnels are a place where students can express themselves through the use of spray paint. You see anything from promotional ads from clubs/organizations to people voicing their opinion on subjects. Late at night the tunnels become home to the fume of paint, smoke of various kind and the sound of music.

Overpriced merchandise

The markets are a great place to get food other than the dining hall food; however, the food comes at a price. A very high price at that. This is where meal plan money starts to disappear.

Second home during exams

The library can be a scary place towards the end of a semester. People walk in with their book bags filled, blankets, pillows, chargers of all kinds and once I even saw someone bring a coffee maker in with him. You see some interesting things at the library during these times.

Hill of hell

You know the slope of a hill is bad when they have to put a railing up (Close up down below) so during the winter season you do not slip on ice and roll down to potential serious injury. Plus if you want to go to the Quinn Center you do not have to worry about warming up as much as you would normally do because after the “hill of hell” and the staircase your blood should be pumping.

Shops that kill your wallet

King Street is filled with various shops that you could spend hours browsing in and buying in. You have to be careful to not realize at the end of the day you spent all of your money. If you ever need a place to hang out with friends or are bored this is the place to go.
