Every type of fan you’ll see at an Alabama football game

The season ticket holders will be decked out in houndstooth and crimson

A game day in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is unlike anywhere else. Along with the traditions and festivities that go along with a Crimson Tide football game, you also have the fans.

The fans come by the masses and the many. You can’t miss an Alabama fan, but you can certainly classify the ones you see on a game day.

Alumni

One thing is certain: when you graduate from the University of Alabama, you are bound to come back to T-Town. Not only will you find alumni at the annual homecoming games, but you will also encounter them flooding Bryant-Denny Stadium. When the team travels to away games, so do the fans.

Alabama alumni can be found just about anywhere in the country, since the University of Alabama draws in a diverse group of students from all over who chose this Southern school to further their education. With that being said, Alabama alumni are bound to make an appearance wherever the Crimson Tide play.

First timers

There’s always a first time for everything, and there is nothing like experiencing your first Alabama football game. You can always pick the newbies out because they’re probably not carrying a beloved shaker or singing along to the fight song (they don’t know the words).

First timers also include the little kids who are dressed to the nines in their Alabama attire. The little girls are in Alabama cheer outfits, which makes everyone say, “Awww.” One thing is for sure – your first Alabama game will not be your last. One cannot simply stay away from Tuscaloosa and the Tide.

Season ticket holders

The season ticket holders are truly the best. Some have been ticket holders for decades and some have even followed generation after generation of Alabama fans to carry on the tradition of being a season ticket holder. These are the fans you can count on that will not only show up, but will also display their loyalty to the Crimson Tide for all to see.

Decked out in their houndstooth and crimson, you can expect nothing less from them. From their socks, scarves, jewelry and everything else in between, you will see that Alabama logo. These fans are the first to greet you with a hello and “Roll Tide” goodbye.

Greek life

Blue suit jackets, red ties, dresses, stickers and pins signify that members of Alabama Greek life are near. The pledges are responsible for having a game day date. If they choose to take a girl who is Greek, she will most likely give her date a sticker with her Greek letters for him to wear. Greek students who attend the game flock to the games by the masses, all dressed and ready for the next victory.

All other students

What is an Alabama football game without the students? Students of the University of Alabama set the scene for the crowd. They sing along to their fight song when the band plays “Yea Alabama.” They clap, cheer and have high expectations of always winning.

They are attending Alabama, after all, so how can one expect anything less? They are a part of the atmosphere of an Alabama game. Their shakers fly high, as do their hopes of winning another national championship.

The bandwagon fans

You can pick them out in the crowd. You can spot them as soon as they come in. If you can’t beat the Crimson Tide, you might as well join them. They own minimum Alabama gear if any, or they are wearing the wrong color crimson. They are in awe of what it’s like to attend an Alabama football game. We don’t mind them though, because after all, we’d rather fans be cheering with us than against us.
