SUNY Stony Brook is officially better than 98% of all universities in the world

Yeah Stony Brook!

New world university rankings have been released, revealing that Stony Brook is one of the world’s best institutions.

The study, which judged over 1000 universities across the world, placed Stony Brook 390th, better than 98% of the estimated 26,000 universities in the world.

Stony Brook proudly sits next to the University of Iowa, who placed at 393 and just ahead of University of Connecticut.

We were also rated in the top 200 for Physics and Astronomy.

At the top of the table, MIT retained the top spot, followed closely by Stanford and Harvard.  Stanford overtook the University of Cambridge into second place and in doing so, it means that the United States holds all of the top-three places for the first time since the inaugural rankings of 2004.

Rutgers didn’t do so well, coming in at a less than respectable top 700.
