Heslington’s other premium pub is opening its doors for the first time since last August, the York Press has reported.

The Deramore Arms, which closed last summer after its owners declared it financially unviable, has been re-opened by owners Greene King after coming under new ownership. A post on the pub’s new Facebook page said that “A warm welcome, great home cooked food and a fantastic range of drinks awaits you”.

It’s a little bit different to campus

“We have a wide selection of cask ales and a wide variety of spirits”. Sounds perfect.

The Deramore Arms has been a crucial part of Heslington’s calm and rural image, alongside the Charles XII pub and Browns sandwich shop, which provides a stark contrast to the neighbouring monstrosity that is the university campus. If any of the campus watering holes aren’t taking your fancy, you now have even more opportunities to seek alcoholic sustenance nearby.
