York is the friendliest city in the UK according to new poll

We also came third for happiest and safest


York has come first for being the friendliest city in the UK beating Gloucester to the top spot.

The city also came third in a poll to determine which city in the UK is the safest.  The findings come from Provident Personal Credit with the report called ‘Unbroken Britain’.

Aberdeen, Scotland’s third most populous city came first and Plymouth came a close second with York in third place, with a score of 7.77.

The Provident surveyed 2000 Brits to see how welcoming, friendly, safe and polite residents in each city of the UK feel their community is at present. Residents were asked to rate this on a scale from 1 – 10.

York has moved up three places since the last report in September 2016, with a 1% change in the last 6 months.

Polls were also undertaken to investigate which city was the happiest, with York coming third in the poll, being narrowly beaten by Worcester and Wrexham but In the three polls, York either came first or third.
