The girl with the worst Pointless answer ever goes to YSJ

We’ve all seen it, Paris? A country? Really?

No one can deny we all love watching tea time quiz shows that were most likely marketed for our grandparents. Flicking between Tipping Point, The Chase and finally Pointless before tucking into your dinner is far too often a routine. We all sit and debate the questions and are positive we could have done better.

However, some of us should stick to watching and shouting the answers to our TV, rather than actually going on national television. We’ve all seen this clip that has gone viral for being ‘the worst answer on pointless ever’ and it was given by one of our very own, a York St John student.

Sarah is a second year history student – clearly not geography – and a member of the Geek Society; which she has been praised on Facebook for mentioning. When asked to name a country ending in two consonants, Sarah didn’t think to mention Swaziland or the Solomon Islands but instead hesitantly answered, “Paris”.

Sarah has since deleted her Facebook after becoming a viral meme and getting an influx of unwanted attention, telling The Tab that she “wants to move on.” Her friend Mariam couldn’t have made her disappointment any clearer about being kicked out in the first round.

We don’t blame you Sarah, none of us are brave enough to get off our sofa and stand behind the podium, although Mariam might disagree with us; with even BBC three joining in with the mocking.

We hope you’re still friends and this hasn’t ruined your teatime quiz viewing. See you in Kuda on Monday where we’re sure you’ll be drowning your sorrows. Let’s just hope no one asks which country they make Kronenbourg in.
