The Sussex Summer Ball is CANCELLED

Varsity disruption results in Summer Ball cancellation

The Sussex Students’ Union announced in a statement this morning that the Summer Ball in collaboration with Brighton University, which was due to take place on 30th April,  has now been cancelled as a result of the violence at Varsity.

“The violence at the recent Sussex & Brighton Varsity event on campus by a minority of students from both universities led to the suspension of permission for the Summer Ball from the University of Sussex while they investigate what happened.”

This led the “major financial backer and delivery team for the Summer Ball to withdraw their support.” As a result, the event cannot take place as their support is essential for the running of the festival-style ball.

With Lethal Bizzle due to headline, the Union are “disappointed” to announce the cancellation but they “hope to bring a similar event to campus in future years”.

The Union have apologised and assure students who purchased tickets that they will receive automatic refunds within a few days.
