What’s on in Brighton this month

Here’s a list of some great events this November


As winter comes, so does the festive party season. With Guy Fawkes, Diwali, and Christmas approaching, here’s a list of fantastic events happening during the day and evenings this November.

 4th-5th: Gin Festival at The Clarendon Centre

With more than 100 gins, cool cocktails, and classes run by industry experts, this is the perfect event for all you gin lovers out there. Three sessions will be running over the two days, along with food, live music, and other entertainment. Buy tickets here.

5th: Lewes Bonfire night

The biggest Guy Fawkes Night in the UK is ,of course, back this year. Expect a fun-filled night of fireworks and more, with seven societies putting on five parades for the (up to) 80,000 spectators . Make sure to organise tickets transport in advance, as Southern Rail strikes will affect transport.

5th: Bonfire Night at Wah Kiki

If you’re tired of fireworks, you may want to celebrate the 5th of November with £2 Jagerbombs and dance till 5am at Wah Kiki.

6th: Diwali celebration at Sussex

Celebrate the Hindu festival of lights this month on campus with the Sussex South Asian Students’ Society. Hosted in Mandela hall, there will be traditional musical performances, a fashion show, and authentic Indian food to enjoy. Buy tickets here.

8th: US Election Night at East Slope Bar

Watch with anticipation as the votes are counted for 2016’s US election in Sussex’s favourite bar. US-inspired food and drinks will be available, as will the opportunity to win a prize for guessing who’s going to top the polls in each state, with game’s £1 fee going towards Survivors Network.

8th: Trump is a CU Next Tuesday Party at The Arch

If you think that Donald Trump is a complete CU Next Tuesday, there’s no better place to go. With Trump Pinatas, punching bags, and message board dedicated to the presidential candidate, you can celebrate or drown your sorrows, depending on the election results.

9th: Pryzm Zoo Party

Get your snakeskin miniskirt and cheetah face paints out for a zoo-themed student night in Pryzm.

11th-13th: Winter Ale and Cider Festival at East Slope Bar

East Slope will be offering the best of local ales and ciders over the weekend from 4pm on Friday. Live performances, competitions, and great deals are in store; and you can even finish it off with a good old Sunday roast.

18th: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them midnight showings at Odeon and Dukes at Komedia

For the Harry Potter fanatics amongst you, Oden and Dukes at Komedia are screening midnight showings of J.K. Rowling’s newest and highly anticipated film ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’.

19th: Patterns and Horse Meat Disco

Horse Meat Disco will be ending their 2016 residency at Patterns this month. Prepare for some great 70s and 80s inspired dance music, as well as the support of Pablo Contraband, Wild Fantasy and J-Felix.

23rd: The Motto – Drake Party at The Haunt

What could be better than a night dedicated to the one and only Drake. After three sold out events in London, and other tracks from  Rhianna, Kendrick Lamar,A$AP Rocky, Tyga and more, this promises to be another great night at The Haunt.

26th: Art Junky at the open market

Brighton Open Market are having an arty special. Stalls will be selling craft, artwork, vintage and found items, with a quirky jumble sale feel.

27th: Brighton and Hove Winter Ball 

Get in the winter spirit in the Grand Hotel with Brighton Rox’s annual Winter Ball. Feel festive surrounded by winter wonderland decor, casino tables, canopes, live performances and more. Remember to come suited and booted for the Black Tie event. Buy tickets here.
