There will be no train service to Lewes on bonfire night

Buses will be your best bet

Southern Rail has announced that no trains will be stopping at Lewes station – as well as London Road, Falmer, Moulsecoomb and Glynde on Saturday November 5th.

Southern has not organised rail replacement bus services either.

The RMT declared strikes for Friday 4th and Saturday November 5th, with normal services scheduled to resume on Sunday November 6th.

Visitors to this year’s famous bonfire will need to organise alternative transportation to the event.

Several road closures will also take effect the same day, with the A26 closed between the Southerham roundabout (junction with the A27) and Earwig Corner (junction with the B2192).

Recommended alternative travel includes Brighton and Hove Buses routes 28 and 29, or booking a seat on The Big Lemon bus service.

Careful journey planning is advised. More information can be found on the Lewes District Council and Southern Rail websites.

RMT are also holding a vote to decide whether further strikes will go ahead at a future date. More information about the strikes can be found here.
