A massive water slide the size of three footy pitches could be coming to Brighton this summer.

The news has created a flurry of excitement across town, except in the Brighton and Hove City Council offices.

An American company called Slide the City has announced that they will be bringing a giant water slide into town this summer, but it turns out they didn’t tell the authorities about it.

The council and the Argus have valiantly attempted to contact the mysterious company but haven’t received a reply.

No specific location or date has yet been set for the slip n’ slide event, but its expected to be rolled out this summer.

Speaking to The Argus, a spokesperson for Brighton and Hove City Council said: ““I’m not sure whether or not it’s going to be held on private land, in which case we wouldn’t need to get involved, but the company has not been in touch with us.”

Slide the City appears to be a genuine company, which is a nice change from the recent flurry of fake events such as open air cinemas which have gained mass followings on social media.

Slide the City have already confirmed dates in North London (June 13), Bristol (June 20) ,Manchester (July 18) and Sheffield.

A ride on the 300-meter-long slide will set you back £10 for one go, or £20 for three.

On their website, Slide the City describe their event as “A family friendly slip-and-slide water party event.”

They add: “There will be live music, food, drinks, water, and of course the biggest slip-and-slide that you’ve ever seen.

“Don’t worry, we’ve got it padded – this slide’s got more cushion than your grandpa’s orthopaedic shoes.

“Make sure to bring your water buckets, floaties, and water guns (non-realistic of course), to squirt, spray, splash, and get all attending soaked.”
