Faith nightclub may not be the best club on earth, but it’s the only hope we have

Because in Lowestoft, beggars can’t be choosers

After Escape was shut down over a year ago, clubbers have no choice but to ‘Faith it’. It may not be Tesco’s finest and we may get sticky shoes, but beggars can’t be choosers, and city isn’t always cheap.

Pre-Faith Spoons

It’s dead before 11pm but who wants to pay £5 entry? So you have to get there before – not a problem – indulging in a jug or two at Spoons is the perfect solution. It’s not frowned upon to pre-drink before Spoons either, so you’ll be well on on your way when entering Faith.

The drunken walk over the bridge

There’s something special about the drunken walk over the bridge, and in the freezing cold temperatures from the beach, you’re aching to get inside before you know it. Let’s not forget the kebab shop behind, its heaving afterwards, but it does great chicken nuggs.

Wangling yourself some cheap drinks

“I’ll have a vodka lemonade please, no ice. Wait are you sure that’s a whole shot? Could you add a tiny bit more?” Get yourself a bit more for a fair price by challenging the staff, it sometimes works. But generally the prices are pretty cheap anyway. If you really can’t afford to splash out a couple of quid, there’s a lot of old men that are willing to. They even provide slushes, that’s the type of extravagant club we’re discussing here.

The great range of people

Once you’ve bought yourself a drink, or one of the creepy men in there has politely done so, the tiny dance floor is waiting for you. You’re quite drunk, your words are slurring and you’ve lost your mates. Hang on, is that the girl from year 11 you used to be best friends with? Go say hi! Before you know it, you’re hosting a reunion with all your long-lost buddies you don’t speak to anymore, who you promise you’ll meet up with. Faith is filled with everyone you know, so you can guarantee a great catch-up.

The grand interior

Faith has been there for years and years, it closed down before it re-opened and became popular again. Yet they kept the old interior the same, I have no explanation for this, but it’s not that classy. Who really cares about the design when everything is fuzzy anyway?

The many, many stairs

It’s on top of a pub so you have to walk a couple flights of stairs before even get in the club. Then there’s more spiral stairs leading to another bar and toilets. So if you’ve broke the seal or you’re a keen smoker, good luck. But think of all them calories you’re burning without realising, more reason to have another drink.

The entertainment value is strong

Now you can’t say you miss out on a good source of entertainment at Faith. There’s sure to be one fight, a few smashed glasses and the police are normally the first to arrive (they sometimes hand out chocolate). The bouncers are pretty quick so if you fancy starting inside, you’ll be out within a couple of minutes.

You’ll probably forget that all anyway when you’re five sambucas in. Like it or loathe it, Faith is all we’ve got – and be honest, you love it really.
